Exam Recertification Pathway
ABCL Maintenance of Certification (MOC)
Diplomates are expected to maintain certification every 10 years following the initial certification. participating in MOC must accumulate at least 200 points, as described in the table below, during the 10 years between initial certification and recertification.

When ready to apply please visit http://moc.lipidboard.org/ to fill out the application and pay applicable fees. Click on the button that reads “Start a New Application” and enter the primary e-mail address we have on file for you. You will then be prompted to complete payment information and upload the necessary documents.

Description of Activities
Part 1: Licensure and Professionalism
100 points
Licensure: 50 points (required)
Certification: 50 points
Part 2: Self-Assessment* and Lifelong Learning (CME)
Can earn up to 150 points via self-assessment program and/or other lipidology-related CME and/or academic work
1 CME hour = 2 points
*Any self-assessment program that you use to count towards your MOC requirement must be completed in the last 3 years prior to recertification.
Completion of current NLA Self-Assessment modules 1-5 earns 100 points total in this category.
If you have any NLA CME credits that you can count as points towards your application, you will be able to add these to your application without having to upload the certificates.
Part 3: Practice Performance Assessment (OPTIONAL)
Can earn up to 50 points per activity.
Complete and report at least one Practice/Performance Improvement (PI) activityComplete and report at least one Practice/Performance Improvement (PI) activity
OR
Interpersonal and Communication Skills improvement (ICS activity)
OR
Systems-based Practice Improvement (SBPI) activity
